Tesla will formally enter the African market on Feb. 6 with the opening of its first location in Morocco, marking a new phase in the automaker’s global expansion.
The launch event will be held at Anfaplace Mall in Casablanca, where Tesla will introduce the Model 3 and Model Y to Moroccan customers. The two models now form Tesla’s core lineup following the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X and account for the majority of the company’s global sales.

“We are delighted to invite you to our official launch in Morocco, which will take place on February 6 at the AnfaPlace Mall,” Tesla said in an invitation published on its website.
While the Casablanca opening represents Tesla’s first retail-style presence in Africa, the company has been preparing the ground for several years. Tesla installed its first Supercharger stations in Morocco in 2021, initially in Casablanca and Tangier. Since then, the network has expanded to six operational Supercharger sites nationwide, providing the charging infrastructure needed to support vehicle sales.

Tesla also formalised its plans last year by setting up a local subsidiary. Tesla Morocco was incorporated in May 2025 and is jointly registered by Tesla International B.V. and Tesla Motors Netherlands B.V.. Based in Casablanca’s Marina district, the unit is responsible for importing, distributing and servicing vehicles, as well as deploying energy products such as solar systems and battery storage.
According to Tesla, the launch event will also focus on customer education, including home charging and ownership experience. “This event will be an opportunity for you to meet the team and discover the Model 3 and Model Y,” the company said, adding that it would also highlight its broader mission “to build a world based on extraordinary abundance.”

Morocco is widely seen as a strategic entry point into Africa, given its investments in renewable energy, automotive manufacturing and export infrastructure. Tesla’s move follows recent expansions into other new markets, including Chile and India, as the company continues to broaden its global footprint.
