Tesla has confirmed that the delivery of the vehicle to its first customer from Giga Berlin will be March 22, 2022.

This is in line with previous media reports stating the opening of the Giga Berlin plant on March 22 or 23.

Elon Musk himself is confirmed to be present at the handover of 30 Model Y Performances to the first customers.

About a week ago, Tesla received an environmental permit for the Berlin Giga. The Minister of State for the Environment, Axel Vogel, has stated that Tesla wants to meet environmental permit requirements before March 18.

The opening and handover events of the first vehicles on March 22 will be possible, provided the environmental permit requirements are met. No vehicle can be manufactured for sale at the Berlin Giga until it is proven that Tesla meets all requirements.

There are already reports that shipments from Grünheide will start with the black and white Model Y Performance, with other colors to follow from May – this is also confirmed by the estimated delivery times in Tesla’s configurator.
