Tesla CEO Elon Musk met with Senior Advisor to President Joe Biden, John Podesta and Senior Advisor Mitch Landrieu in Washington on Friday to discuss ways to further promote the adoption of electric vehicles in the United States.
According to a Senior White House spokesperson, the meeting focused on “shared goals around electrification” and how recently passed legislation such as the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law can help to increase the use of electric vehicles in the country.

The spokesperson stated that topics of discussion also included the expansion of electric vehicle production and the development of charging infrastructure. It’s worth noting that last year, the White House announced that Tesla, the company led by Musk that has played a key role in catalyzing the global electric vehicle movement, was planning to produce new charging equipment that would allow non-Tesla electric vehicle drivers in North America to use Tesla Superchargers.
Last week, it was revealed that Tesla is working on a potential design for a “Magic Dock” which would enable non-Tesla electric vehicles to charge using Superchargers across the United States. At present, Tesla has the largest electric vehicle charging network with over 40,000 stations globally, however, it is currently only available to Tesla owners.
With the company having run a pilot program in Europe for the last year and a half, it is speculated that the automaker may be ready to open its charging infrastructure to other companies.
