Even though the automotive industry is experiencing an ongoing crisis of semiconductor chips, that doesn’t seem to deter Tesla from expanding their production in the various factories they own. And this time the factory in Berlin, Germany is making a breakthrough by increasing the production of one of its products, the Model Y to 1,000 units per week.
According to a report by the Herman automotive media, Automobilwoche, Tesla’s Berlin factory is currently only able to produce the Model Y with Pearl White Multicoat or Solid Black paint. This happens because other colors still have to be supplied from Tesla’s factory in Shanghai and will only be accepted by consumers in March next year.
For consumers who choose Pearl White Multicoat and Solid Black colors, consumers will get their car units in October. Tesla’s factory in Grunnheide, Berlin, Germany actually has the most sophisticated assembly facility Tesla has ever owned.
Even the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk, as reported by CarBuzz earlier this year, said that the Berlin factory is actually ready to produce various car models with various colors. However, he said that considering the large number of car orders but still having problems with the scarcity of chips, many car productions were hampered.
Tesla itself is actually targeting to be able to produce half a million units of their electric car every year in 1 assembly plant. But for now, as at the Berlin factory, that target seems impossible to achieve at least this year. But even so, Tesla will try as much as possible to maximize their car production, especially at the Berlin, Germany factory that produces the Model Y.
