Tata Motors, an Indian automaker, showcased a diverse range of vehicles including electric vehicles (EVs), internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and trucks at Auto Expo 2023. The company, which currently leads the domestic EV market in India, plans to launch 10 EVs by 2026. The Auto Expo 2023 lineup featured 5 EVs, 7 ICE cars and 14 trucks. This follows Tata’s recent fundraising of $1 billion for its EV business in 2021.

Tata Motors unveiled its latest electric SUV, the next-generation Sierra, at the Auto Expo in Greater Noida, India. The Sierra is aimed at competing with medium-sized SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5 and is set to be available in Indian dealerships by 2025.

Tata unveiled the Sierra, a concept vehicle, at the Auto Expo in 2020 as one of 12 new cars, including five electric vehicles, on display. The company also showcased 14 trucks, including one powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

The Sierra’s unveiling aligns with Tata’s plans to expand its electric vehicle range, as they currently dominate the market in India. The vehicle’s electric motor and battery capacity have yet to be announced, but reports indicate a driving range of over 400 kilometers on a single charge.

Other technical details such as weight and performance have yet to be disclosed. Tata states that the Sierra name is a reference to a three-door SUV produced for the Indian market in the 1990s, which was the first SUV made by Tata.
