Tank Unveils the Tank 400 Hi4-T, Expanding Its Hybrid Lineup in China

Great Wall Motor’s personalized brand, Tank, has introduced the Tank 400 Hi4-T, a hybrid SUV that marks the company’s second foray into the world of hybrid technology. This launch follows the recent debut of the Tank 500 Hi4-T and underscores Tank’s commitment to embracing new energy vehicle (NEV) options.

Traditionally known for its internal combustion engine-powered offerings, such as the Tank 300 and Tank 500, Tank has embarked on a new path with the introduction of hybrid technology. The Tank 400 Hi4-T, unveiled in China, is available in two versions with starting prices ranging from 279,800 to 289,800 Chinese yuan, bridging the gap between its gasoline-powered and fully electric counterparts.

Measuring 4,985 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the Tank 400 Hi4-T boasts a powerful and efficient powertrain. It combines a 2.0 T engine generating 180 kW of power and 380 Nm of peak torque with an electric motor delivering a maximum power of 120 kW and 400 Nm of maximum torque. This synergy results in a combined power output of 300 kW and peak torque of 750 Nm, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds.

A key feature of the Tank 400 Hi4-T is its Li-ion ternary battery pack with a capacity of 37.1 kWh. This advanced battery system provides a WLTC battery range of 110 km and a combined range of 800 km, demonstrating the vehicle’s versatility for various driving scenarios. Notably, it supports fast charging, enabling a rapid charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 24 minutes. Additionally, the SUV features a 3.3-kW external discharge function and comes equipped with an L2 assisted driving system, enhancing driver convenience and safety.

Since commencing pre-sales on August 25, the Tank 400 Hi4-T has garnered impressive pre-order numbers, with over 8,500 units reserved, a testament to the growing interest in hybrid vehicles among consumers.

Great Wall Motor has made significant strides in the NEV market in 2023, unveiling a range of innovative products, including the Lanshan DHT-PHEV, the Haval Xiaolong, and the Tank 500 Hi4-T. The launch of the Tank 400 Hi4-T further solidifies the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, aligning with the global shift towards cleaner and more efficient transportation options.
