Swiss Aircraft Manufacturer Jekta Reveals Electric Seaplane with First Order Secured

Jekta Switzerland SA, a Switzerland-based aircraft manufacturer, is currently in the process of developing an electric passenger hydro aircraft, also known as a seaplane. The company has revealed that this new aircraft, called the PHA-ZE 100, will be capable of flying almost 100 miles on a single charge, and will be able to accommodate up to 19 passengers and three crew members.

The PHA-ZE 100 was first unveiled at the Abu Dhabi Air Expo last year and has been designed to generate zero emissions. With ten motors and an electric propulsion system, the aircraft is expected to supply 180 kW of power, allowing for up to two hours of flying time, with an extra two hours reserved for cruising at speeds up to 135 knots.

Jekta CEO George Alafinov, who is also the founder of hydro aircraft maker Aerovolga, explained the significance of the electric seaplane, saying, “The new aircraft means the lowest cost per passenger possible and the possibility to be used with low or no ground amenities at all.”

In addition to its impressive performance capabilities, the PHA-ZE 100 has been constructed using modern composite materials and features modern navigation and piloting systems.

The aircraft has already received its first order for ten planes from Gayo Aviation and Tourism, a Dubai-based company that aims to reduce its emissions. While no specifics of the deal have been announced, traditional seaplanes of similar size can run for over $1 million.

Jekta plans to have the electric seaplane operational by 2029, which is a significant step forward for sustainable aviation and could pave the way for more eco-friendly air travel options in the future.
