Chinese electric truck manufacturer SuperPanther has appointed Dr. Holger Scherr as Executive Vice President Europe, tasking the former Daimler Truck executive with expanding its European operations. Scherr brings more than 20 years of experience at Daimler and Daimler Truck, including senior leadership roles in China.
Scherr most recently served as President and CEO of Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co Ltd and was a member of the Executive Committee of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. His career at Daimler and Daimler Truck ended in April 2026, according to his LinkedIn profile.
At SuperPanther, he will work alongside Dr. Michael Ruf, the company’s President for Europe, focusing on developing its sales, production and service operations. SuperPanther highlighted Scherr’s experience in vehicle development, global logistics, supply chain management and business operations, including his involvement in the Mercedes-Benz Actros and Zetros programmes and the localisation of Mercedes-Benz trucks in China.
European Operations Enter Expansion Phase
The appointment comes as SuperPanther moves from pilot deployments towards larger-scale production. The company began series production of its eTopas 600 electric tractor unit at Steyr Automotive in Austria in July 2026. Initial vehicles have been delivered to customers, including DHL Freight, while orders from Hugelshofer and Gartner have also been announced.
SuperPanther aims to deliver around 100 vehicles to European customers by the end of 2026 and a cumulative 1,000 by the end of 2027.
To support its growing fleet, the company works with service partner Alltrucks and operates two spare-parts warehouses in the European Union.
Building Production and Service Capacity
Ruf said customer deployments have demonstrated the eTopas 600’s performance in Europe, with the next priority being to expand production, sales and maintenance capabilities in line with demand.
SuperPanther presented its electric tractor unit to a wider European audience at IAA Transportation. The company is now working to establish a stronger regional presence as it expands customer deliveries and develops the infrastructure required to support commercial electric truck operations.
