Sunswap has expanded into Australia through a partnership with Protran Solutions, marking the UK-based company’s sixth international market as it scales its battery- and solar-powered transport refrigeration technology.
The move follows Sunswap’s growth across the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Chile, where its Endurance refrigeration units are already in operation with major retailers and logistics providers. The company positions its technology as a zero-emission alternative to diesel-powered transport refrigeration systems commonly used in cold-chain logistics.

Sunswap manufactures the Endurance unit, which is powered by onboard batteries and roof-mounted solar panels. The system is designed to deliver up to 24 hours of frozen operation on a single charge, with solar generation extending range and reducing external charging requirements. Sunswap says the units can maintain temperatures from minus 25 degrees Celsius to ambient, enabling use across demanding commercial routes.
According to the company, electric refrigeration can cut operating costs by up to 81% compared with diesel systems, while also eliminating engine-related maintenance complexity. Existing Endurance deployments support large-scale retail and logistics operations in Europe and South America.

“Operators are choosing Endurance because it handles demanding operations better than diesel while cutting costs dramatically,” said Michael Lowe. “The environmental benefit is the outcome, not the compromise. That’s what’s driving adoption globally—fleets get better performance, lower costs, and zero emissions. The partnership with Protran brings that to Australian operators.”
Under the agreement, Protran Solutions will provide local sales, service and technical support across Australia. Sunswap said the partnership is intended to ensure reliability and uptime for operators adopting electric refrigeration in long-haul and urban delivery applications.
