Subaru’s newest electric SUVs are already outselling the Solterra on a monthly basis, just months after arriving at dealerships, highlighting growing consumer interest in the brand’s expanding battery-electric vehicle lineup.

The company introduced the 2026 Trailseeker and 2026 Uncharted alongside the updated 2026 Solterra, broadening its electric SUV portfolio with models targeting different customer segments.

New Models Gain Momentum

In June, the Trailseeker became Subaru’s best-selling electric vehicle with 953 units sold, followed by the Uncharted with 699 units. The Solterra recorded 218 units during the month.

The trend began in May, when the Uncharted led Subaru’s electric vehicle sales with 1,270 units, ahead of the Trailseeker at 1,074 units and the Solterra at 750 units.

Despite the recent shift, the Solterra remains Subaru’s top-selling electric vehicle for the year so far, with 5,137 units sold during the first six months of 2026. The Uncharted has accumulated 2,491 units, while the Trailseeker has reached 2,436 units.

Updated Solterra Receives Major Improvements

Subaru significantly upgraded the Solterra for the 2026 model year.

The electric SUV now features a larger 74.7-kWh battery, increasing maximum driving range to 288 miles, up approximately 25% from the previous model’s 227-mile range.

The updated model also introduces redesigned front and rear styling, including new headlights, an illuminated six-star Subaru logo, revised bumpers, a new rear badge, and an additional roof spoiler.

One of the most notable upgrades is a new battery preconditioning system, allowing the Solterra to recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 35 minutes, even in cold weather.

Inside, the SUV gains a standard 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Every version also continues to feature Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and 8.3 inches of ground clearance.

Trailseeker and Uncharted Target Different Buyers

The new Uncharted serves as Subaru’s compact electric crossover, offering dimensions similar to the gasoline-powered Crosstrek. It starts at US$34,995, making it the most affordable electric SUV in the lineup.

Positioned above it, the Trailseeker starts at US$39,995 and offers a larger, more rugged design inspired by the Outback. The Solterra is priced between the two, beginning at US$38,495.

The Trailseeker is more than six inches longer than the Solterra and delivers 375 horsepower, compared with the Solterra’s 338 horsepower. It also increases towing capacity to 3,500 pounds, although its larger size reduces maximum driving range slightly to 281 miles.

Expanding Electric Portfolio

Subaru plans to continue expanding its battery-electric lineup later this year with the launch of the Getaway, the company’s first three-row electric SUV.

Like the current Solterra, Trailseeker, and Uncharted, Subaru’s electric SUVs are developed in partnership with Toyota and share their underlying platform with the 2026 Toyota bZ, Toyota C-HR, and Toyota bZ Woodland, strengthening the collaboration between the two Japanese automakers as they accelerate their electric vehicle strategies.
