Automotive giant, Stellantis, is spearheading the development of fast-charging stations in Italy as part of its wider European charging network initiative. The first of these charging stations, known as Atlante, was installed at a Stellantis dealership in Magenta, near Milan. The station is a joint venture between Stellantis, NHOA Group, and Free2move eSolutions, and is expected to be the first of many in the company’s Italian dealer network.
The Atlante fast-charging station has two CCS cables, with a charging power ranging from 100-175 kW. This, combined with the clear signage of the charging points, makes for a user-friendly and efficient charging experience for electric vehicle owners. The Atlante project is slated to expand to France, Spain, and Portugal in the near future, with a target of over 15,000 sites and two million parking spaces across Europe by 2025.
Stellantis’ commitment to electric mobility is further demonstrated by the opening of the first Atlante fast-charging points in France, which are expected to go live shortly at selected dealerships. The CEO of Atlante, Stefano Terranova, highlighted the importance of working at both a global and community level to ensure the success of the zero-emission transition. He also stated that dedicated task force teams have been set up to support Stellantis dealers in setting up their own Atlante stations.
Ciro Papa, Head of the e-Mobility Business Unit of Stellantis Italy, added that while the energy transition will take time, initiatives like the Atlante project give companies a competitive advantage in the future. By providing fast and convenient charging solutions, Stellantis is leading the charge towards a more sustainable future.
