South Korean automaker SsangYong Motor has released the first official images of its highly-anticipated electric SUV, the Torres EVX. The vehicle is set to debut at the upcoming 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, alongside a plethora of other concept and production vehicles.
Previously known as the U100 project, the Torres EVX’s name is a combination of “EV” (electric vehicle) and “X” (extreme), emphasizing the model’s adventurous character. The EVX boasts a redesigned front end, featuring a slim LED daytime running light bar in place of the traditional grille found on its combustion engine-powered counterpart.

The SUV’s bumper is also unique to the EVX, with low-mounted headlights and a discreet skid plate. The profile remains largely unchanged, save for new alloy wheels. SsangYong has not yet released images of the rear end, but the automaker has hinted at a full-width LED bar and signature bump on the tailgate.
Inside, the Torres EVX has been given a significant overhaul, with a new dual-screen digital cockpit and wood-style inserts on the dashboard. The steering wheel has been retained, while the touch-sensitive area for climate controls has been removed. The automaker says the new dash offers improved visibility and a more ergonomic user experience.
SsangYong will soon be renamed KG Mobility, as part of an overhaul of the automaker’s branding and corporate identity. However, the Torres EVX retains the SsangYong badge on the steering wheel. The automaker has yet to reveal specific technical details about the EVX, but it’s expected to share its underpinnings with the Korando e-Motion, which features a single front-mounted electric motor producing 190 hp and a 61.5 kWh battery offering 340 km of WLTP range.

The automaker will also unveil the KR10, O100, and F100 concepts, and modified versions of its production models. SsangYong will also present its vision as a mobility company, suggesting there may be more surprises in store at the show. The Seoul Mobility Show will take place from March 30 to April 9.
