Sony has expanded its line of in-car audiovisual receivers with the introduction of the XAV-AX3700, a compact and affordable model packed with features typically found in higher-end receivers. The new receiver boasts support for FLAC audio files, LDAC codec, and Apple CarPlay, making it a versatile and user-friendly option for car audio enthusiasts.
Priced at $399.99, the XAV-AX3700 offers a more budget-friendly alternative to Sony’s AX8500 sibling, which is currently priced at $898 on Amazon. Despite the lower price, both receivers feature iDatalink Maestro and 3-pre out links, ensuring high-quality audio output.
One of the standout features of the XAV-AX3700 is its “Sleek” 6.95-inch anti-glare touch-enabled display, which offers quick wake-up functionality for instant usability. The receiver also boasts a customizable user interface, allowing users to personalize their homescreen background by removing the standard central clock.
Designed with a single-DIN form factor for a space-saving fit, the XAV-AX3700 includes a reversible USB-C port for convenient connectivity. However, the receiver lacks wireless connectivity options. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and SiriusXM Radio, although there is no mention of Android Auto support.
The XAV-AX3700 is equipped with large physical buttons for easy control and navigation, enhancing its user-friendly design. Sony has announced that the receiver will be available from June 2024 through authorized Sony dealers, offering an accessible option for consumers looking to upgrade their in-car audio experience.
