Solaris Bus & Coach has entered its Urbino 15 LE electric in the intercity category of Bus Euro Test 2026, showcasing a battery-electric bus designed for both urban and regional transport operations.
The vehicle combines a low-floor front section for efficient passenger boarding in city environments with a raised rear section intended to enhance comfort on longer-distance routes.
Designed for Urban and Intercity Operations
The Urbino 15 LE electric can accommodate up to 100 passengers and offers seating for 65 people, making it suitable for a range of public transport applications.
Solaris said the vehicle provides an operating range of approximately 600 kilometers and is equipped with CCS2 plug-in charging and pantograph charging capabilities.
The bus is powered by Solaris High Energy batteries, which support extended operating ranges and flexible charging strategies.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
The vehicle complies with General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2) requirements and the R66 safety standard.
Driver assistance systems include blind spot monitoring, driver fatigue detection, traffic sign recognition, and lane keeping assist.
Additional safety technologies include electronic braking systems, traction control, electronic stability control, and collision mitigation functions.
Competing in Bus Euro Test 2026
Bus Euro Test is an annual comparative evaluation organized by the Bus of the Year jury, which consists of specialist transport journalists from across Europe.
Vehicles are assessed under real-world operating conditions, with performance, efficiency, safety, comfort, and innovation among the key evaluation criteria.
The competition serves as the basis for selecting the annual Bus of the Year award winner.
Growing Presence in European Markets
Solaris said more than 600 Urbino 15 LE electric buses have been contracted to date, with approximately 320 units already delivered.
The model is currently in operation with public transport operators in Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Poland.
The manufacturer has previously won the Bus of the Year award with the Urbino 12 electric in 2017 and the Urbino 18 hydrogen in 2025.
Solaris is also developing a dedicated intercity bus platform as part of its strategy to expand its portfolio of zero-emission public transport vehicles.
