Austrian charge point operator (CPO) Smatrics EnBW installed around 250 ultra-fast chargers last year, bringing its high-power charging (HPC) network to 400 stations nationwide. The company aims to grow its network by at least 50% in 2025 and has announced plans to introduce dynamic daily pricing for electric vehicle charging.

Smatrics EnBW plans to add 200 ultra-fast chargers in 2025, each capable of delivering up to 400 kW. This expansion aligns with its goal to operate at least 600 charging stations by the end of the year. The company has shifted from installing a minimum of four chargers per location to creating larger charging parks with at least 12 charging points.

Several charging hubs with enhanced facilities are already operational in St. Veit and Poggersdorf (Carinthia), St. Pölten (Lower Austria), and Vorchdorf (Upper Austria). Upcoming locations include Regau and Suben (Upper Austria), Spielberg (Styria), and Altlengbach (Lower Austria). Many of these hubs feature solar panels and covered charging areas to enhance user convenience and sustainability.

In a move to improve transparency, Smatrics EnBW will implement dynamic daily pricing for its network. Prices will be updated and displayed at charging locations and through the company’s app, akin to the pricing models used at fuel stations.

“The price labelling enables even inexperienced EV drivers to get a quick overview and reduces uncertainty,” said Hauke Hinrichs, COO of Smatrics EnBW.
