The Smart #5 has officially entered the Chinese market after its launch in August, with prices starting at 239,900 yuan (approximately $33,700). This new lineup includes four mid-size electric SUVs: the Long Range Adventure Standard, Long Range Adventure Deluxe, and Jungle Realm Limited, with prices ranging from 239,900 to 368,000 yuan (around $33,700 to $51,700).
Available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, three of the four trims come equipped with RWD drivetrains, while only the Jungle Realm Limited features an AWD option. The Smart #5 measures 4,705 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,705 mm in height (1,830 mm with roof rails), with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm and ground clearance varying from 156 mm to 231 mm, depending on the selected trim.
The RWD variants utilize a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor made from Silicon Carbide (SiC) with two power ratings: 250 kW/373 Nm and 267 kW/373 Nm. These models achieve acceleration from 0 to 100 kph in 6.5 seconds, with the fastest charging capability allowing for a recharge from 30% to 80% in under 15 minutes.
In contrast, the AWD drivetrain boasts a combined maximum power output of 432 kW, featuring a front asynchronous motor rated at 165 kW/270 Nm and a rear motor at 310 kW/440 Nm. The AWD version accelerates to 100 kph in just 4.9 seconds.
The Jungle Realm Limited AWD trim offers an outdoor adventure package that includes a uniquely painted X-shaped roof platform, luggage racks, a side ladder, and a hidden trailer connector with a towing capacity of 1.6 tons. Additional features for this trim include a premium Sennheiser audio system, a 25.6-inch AR-HUD, a 10.3-inch LCD instrument panel, and dual 13-inch AMOLED 2.5K central control and co-pilot entertainment screens, all powered by an AMD V2000 chip.
Safety is a priority for the Smart #5, which is equipped with eight airbags, including front, front-side, side curtain, far-side, and an optional seat cushion airbag. The vehicle also features the smart Pilot Assist 3.0 intelligent driving assistance system, supported by dual Nvidia Drive OrinX autonomous driving chips.
