Slate Auto has announced pricing for its all-electric Slate Truck, with the pickup starting at $24,950 as the company prepares to begin customer deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The startup said the vehicle will be available for preorder with a $300 deposit and will be sold directly to consumers as either a pickup or an SUV, with owners able to convert between body styles after purchase.
Entry-Level Electric Pickup
The Slate Truck starts at $24,950, while the Squareback and Fastback SUV variants are priced from $29,950.
Slate Auto said more than 180,000 customers have already placed reservations for the vehicle. Existing reservation holders who previously paid a $50 deposit can complete their preorder with an additional $250.
Chief Executive Officer Peter Faricy said the company aims to offer an affordable and customizable electric vehicle.
“More than 180,000 reservation holders have told us they’re ready for a vehicle that’s affordable, reliable, and built around their lives.”
He added:
“Slate gives customers the freedom to buy only what they need today and personalize their vehicle as their needs change tomorrow. We’re excited to start seeing Slates on roads across America later this year.”
Improved Range and Utility
Slate Auto said the pickup now has an estimated driving range of 205 miles, representing a 37% increase over previous projections. The estimate is based on the company’s approximation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency testing cycle.
Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 181 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 65-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with 63 kWh of usable capacity.
The company estimates the truck can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately eight seconds and reach a top speed of 90 mph.
The pickup is rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds and carry a maximum payload of 1,550 pounds.
Charging and Customization
The Slate Truck comes equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector and an 11-kW onboard charger.
According to the company, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes using a 120-kW DC fast charger, while a Level 2 AC charger can replenish the battery from 20% to full in approximately four hours.
Customers will also have access to more than 200 optional accessories through the Slate Marketplace, including roof racks, seat covers, audio upgrades and exterior styling options. More than 100 vehicle wrap colors will be available, with most accessories priced below $500.
Production Planned in Indiana
Founded in 2022, Slate Auto plans to manufacture the vehicle at its production facility in Warsaw, Indiana.
The company said it intends to invest nearly $400 million in the factory, create more than 2,000 jobs and contribute an estimated $39 billion to Indiana’s economy over the next two decades.
The Slate Truck will include a 10-year or 110,000-mile warranty covering the battery and powertrain, while service will be supported through a network of more than 3,000 RepairPal repair facilities across the United States.
