Skoda to Launch Facelifted Enyaq EV in India in 2025

Skoda plans to introduce its Enyaq electric vehicle (EV) to the Indian market in 2025, but with a notable difference from the model currently available in Europe. The Czech automaker will launch the facelifted version of the Enyaq rather than the existing model, as initially planned for this year. The company has deferred the launch, opting to unveil the updated version, which is set to feature significant design and technological upgrades.

Petr Janeba, Skoda’s Brand Director for India, confirmed the delay and indicated that the facelift will offer such substantial changes that the existing Enyaq would appear outdated by comparison. “The facelift is so big that it would probably kill the (existing) car,” Janeba remarked in an interview with The Week. The 2025 Enyaq will adopt Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, which was first showcased in the Epiq concept and later implemented in the Elroq SUV.

In addition to the Enyaq, Skoda is considering the launch of its full EV portfolio in India, including the Enyaq Coupe and the Elroq. However, the company is not planning to heavily localize these vehicles for the Indian market. “We are thinking whether we bring Elroq or Enyaq or Enyaq Coupe or all three cars,” Janeba noted, though he added that Skoda may only import knocked-down kits from Europe for assembly in India.

Looking further ahead, Skoda intends to locally manufacture its first heavily localized EV in India by 2027. This vehicle will be produced at the Chakan plant in Maharashtra, but details regarding the model’s segment, platform, or other specifications remain undisclosed. Skoda and its sister brand Volkswagen plan to utilize the CMP21 platform for this model, an adaptation of the China Main Platform (CMP) derived from the MEB31 platform.
