Skoda used the IAA Mobility show to unveil the Vision O estate concept, a study that could evolve into a fully electric Octavia and is expected to run on Volkswagen Group’s upcoming 800-volt SSP platform.

The Czech brand described the Vision O as a “bold leap forward” in its Modern Solid design language, which also shapes the recently introduced Epiq compact SUV and updated Enyaq. Skoda said the concept was designed “from the inside out,” focusing on a minimalist, customer-centric cabin that offers more than 650 litres of boot space. Interior highlights include a Horizon Display for both driver and passenger, the AI assistant Laura, and “Bio-Adaptive Lighting” that adjusts to natural light cycles.

On the exterior, Skoda said the 4.85-metre-long estate features a streamlined profile with active louvres, air channels, and aerodynamically optimised wheels to maximise efficiency. At the rear, it adopts the new T-shaped light signature first seen on the Epiq. Boot capacity expands to 1,700 litres with the rear seats folded.

“At Skoda, our commitment to our customers, who have trusted us as the estate segment leader since 2016, drives us to realise the Vision O: a blend of innovative design, over 650 litres of boot space, autonomous driving functions and an intuitive AI assistant,” said CEO Klaus Zellmer. “This vehicle transforms every journey into an effortless, enriching experience.”

Skoda confirmed that the series version of the Vision O is scheduled for the “next decade” on VW’s SSP platform, with market launch expected in 2027 or 2028. The company had earlier considered the updated MEB+ platform but said the SSP’s 800-volt architecture represents a more future-proof option despite potential rollout delays.
