Siemens eMobility, a subsidiary of Siemens AG, has won two significant contracts in Italy, marking a strong start for the recently established unit. The contracts include the installation of 73 depot charging points for Autolinee Toscane and over 120 high-power charging (HPC) stations for IPLANET, a fast-growing EV charging provider.
The Autolinee Toscane project focuses on electrifying bus depots in Florence, Prato, and Lucca to support the expansion of the company’s electric bus fleet. Siemens will supply 73 Sicharge UC chargers with power capacities of 100 kW and 150 kW. The project also includes medium and low-voltage distribution systems and Siemens’ DepotFinity platform for monitoring and managing charging operations. Autolinee Toscane operates under RATP DEV Italia Group and is committed to increasing its electric bus deployment.
In the second project, Siemens eMobility will equip more than 120 IPLANET locations with fast chargers capable of delivering 300-400 kW of power. IPLANET, a joint venture between Italian petrol station operator IP and investor Macquarie, launched in 2024 with a plan to invest over €200 million in fast and ultra-fast charging infrastructure. The initiative aims to upgrade 300 IP petrol stations across Italy by 2027 and eventually equip 510 stations with EV chargers by 2032. Siemens will provide a comprehensive solution, including transformers, medium and low-voltage systems, and components to integrate renewable energy sources.
“These projects underscore Siemens eMobility’s mission to integrate sustainable mobility into everyday life,” said Markus Mildner, CEO of Siemens eMobility. “By combining cutting-edge technology and strong partnerships, we’re helping to transform the transportation and logistics sectors for a more sustainable future.”
The Siemens subsidiary, which spun off in 2024, combines Siemens’ charging infrastructure expertise with Heliox, an EV charging specialist acquired earlier that year. Its portfolio includes IoT-connected hardware, software, and services for AC and DC charging, supporting applications ranging from 11 kW to 1 MW. Siemens eMobility claims a strong focus on the eBus and eTruck markets and has already deployed over 100,000 charging points and completed 800 projects in more than 60 countries.
