Seyond reported a sharp increase in LiDAR shipments during the second quarter of 2026, driven by rapid demand for its Robin series as advanced driver assistance systems continue to gain wider adoption in China’s automotive market.

According to a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company shipped approximately 271,100 LiDAR units during the quarter, representing a 385% increase from a year earlier and a 49% rise compared with the first quarter.

Robin Series Drives Shipment Growth

The Robin series accounted for the majority of quarterly deliveries, with shipments reaching approximately 191,600 units. That represented year-on-year growth of more than 3,200% and an increase of 66% from the previous quarter, contributing about 71% of the company’s total shipments.

Meanwhile, deliveries of the Falcon series, Seyond’s flagship long-range forward-facing LiDAR, reached approximately 77,800 units, up 55% from a year earlier and 19% from the previous quarter.

Combined with first-quarter shipments of about 181,400 units, Seyond’s total deliveries during the first half of 2026 exceeded 450,000 units.

The company said its LiDAR technology is also expanding beyond automotive applications into sectors including robotics and physical artificial intelligence.

Production Capacity and Customer Expansion

In April, Seyond announced that cumulative LiDAR deliveries had surpassed one million units. At the time, the company said its annual manufacturing capacity had reached 1.2 million units and that it planned to add another one million units of production capacity during 2026.

Founded in 2016, Seyond became the third LiDAR manufacturer to list in Hong Kong following RoboSense and Hesai Group after completing its public listing through a special purpose acquisition company merger in December 2025.

Historically, Nio has been Seyond’s largest customer, with the Falcon series installed across the automaker’s premium vehicle lineup, while the Robin series supplies models under Nio’s mass-market Onvo brand.

The company has since broadened its customer base, securing mass-production programs with 18 automakers and autonomous driving companies, including SAIC Volkswagen, GAC Group, and Leapmotor.

Seyond said the rapid expansion of the Robin series reflects the launch of several new vehicle programs, including an agreement announced in 2025 to exclusively supply its 905-nanometer Robin E1X LiDAR to multiple brands within a major Chinese automotive group.

ADAS Market Continues to Expand

The company’s growth comes as China’s automotive LiDAR market continues to expand rapidly.

Citing data from NE Times, Deutsche Bank said shipments of automotive LiDAR for advanced driver assistance systems reached approximately 447,000 units in China during May, an increase of 87% from a year earlier.

During the first five months of 2026, cumulative ADAS LiDAR shipments reached around 1.8 million units, up 130% year over year.

According to Deutsche Bank, Seyond delivered 259,964 units during that period, ranking fourth in the market behind Hesai, Huawei, and RoboSense.

The bank attributed growing adoption in part to falling LiDAR prices. RoboSense’s average selling price declined 52% year over year during the first quarter to 1,336 yuan, while prices for some forward-facing LiDAR units have fallen to around 800 yuan in 2026.

As a result, the penetration rate of front-facing LiDAR in China’s passenger vehicle market increased to 21.4% in May, up 9.5 percentage points from a year earlier.

Deutsche Bank also noted that Seyond and Hesai have gained market share over the past year, with Seyond’s share of China’s front-facing LiDAR market increasing to 8.9% in May.
