Serbia will continue offering purchase subsidies for electric vehicles in 2025, with incentives reaching up to €5,000. The government has allocated a budget of 170 million dinars (€1.5 million) for the program, which allows private individuals and businesses to apply for incentives until the end of October.

The subsidy amounts vary by vehicle type, ranging from €250 for electric mopeds and light tricycles to €500 for electric motorcycles, heavy tricycles, and quadricycles. Fully electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (M1 and N1 categories) are eligible for the maximum €5,000 incentive.

Applicants must meet certain conditions to receive the subsidies. Buyers using leasing arrangements will only qualify after making a minimum down payment of 15%, while those purchasing outright must first prove full payment of the non-subsidized portion of the price.

Serbia introduced EV purchase incentives in 2020, initially covering hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, but since 2023, only fully electric models have been eligible. Over the past five years, the program has supported more than 2,800 electric and hybrid vehicle purchases.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujović noted that the domestic production of the Fiat Grande Panda in Kragujevac could further boost demand for subsidies. “This model of electric passenger vehicle can also be eligible for support in the amount of €5,000,” she said.

Vujović added that if demand surpasses the allocated budget, the government would seek additional funding. “We will do our best to provide additional funds for everyone who submitted a request within the stipulated deadline so that they can purchase an environmentally friendly vehicle with state support,” she stated.
