FOR:EV, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Scotland, has unveiled an ambitious plan to enhance their charging network by partnering with Starbucks. As part of this collaboration, rapid charging stations have been deployed at four Starbucks locations, bolstering the accessibility and convenience of EV charging for consumers. The installation process is already complete at Starbucks outlets in Livingston and Dunfermline, while two more sites in Galashiels and Blairgowrie are slated to commence their installation later this month.
The charging hubs situated at Livingston, Dunfermline, and Galashiels feature cutting-edge ultra-rapid 150 kW C Series charger models. These advanced chargers are designed to significantly reduce charging times, capable of replenishing an EV’s battery from 20% to 80% charge in just 20 to 30 minutes. At the Blairgowrie location, 100 kW rapid chargers will be installed, offering a slightly longer but still efficient charging time of approximately 30-40 minutes for the same charging process.
FOR:EV’s strategic vision extends beyond these initial deployments. The company aims to establish a vast charging network comprising over 1,700 charging points across 600 publicly accessible destination charging sites, covering regions in both Scotland and the broader UK.
Calum Wallace, Senior Business Development Manager at FOR:EV, emphasized the significance of this expansion, saying, “The installation of these new ultra-rapid charge points at Starbucks sites across Scotland will be very welcome at a time when EV ownership is increasing dramatically. In order to break down a key barrier to EV charging away from home, our chargers operate on a user-friendly ‘tap-and-go’ approach, with no registration or membership requirements, to make the experience as easy and stress-free as possible.”
