SAIC Motors, the parent company of MG, is expanding its presence in Europe with the introduction of a new electric-only brand, IM (Intelligent Mobility). The brand will debut with the IM L6, a premium electric sedan set to make its global premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show on February 26.
The IM L6 is positioned to compete in the premium market segment, boasting impressive range and performance. While specific horsepower figures have not been disclosed, IM Motors claims the L6 will accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in under three seconds, outpacing rivals like the Lucid Air Grand Touring and the Tesla Model S Performance.

The electric sedan will be available in two configurations, offering between 600 km and 800 km (373 to 497 miles) of range. The longer-range model will feature a solid-state battery, which is expected to provide enhanced safety and faster recharging compared to the lithium-ion battery in the shorter-range variant.
IM Motors promises that the L6 will incorporate “leading-edge levels of technology” to compete with Europe’s premium vehicles when it hits the market in 2025. The L6 represents the brand’s focus on executive sedans and large SUVs for the European market.

The IM L6 will share the spotlight with the new MG3 Hybrid at its unveiling. IM Motors, established in 2020 as a joint venture between SAIC, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, and Alibaba, has quickly gained traction. Its emergence as a significant player in the automotive industry was reportedly one of the factors behind Audi’s decision to deepen its collaboration with SAIC in China last year.
