Rolls-Royce’s CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, has announced that all future models produced by the British luxury carmaker will be electric. This decision was made due to a growing demand from customers, many of whom already own EVs from other brands.
The company’s first-ever electric vehicle, the Spectre, was recently introduced to the market, and there are plans to launch additional electric models in the near future.

“The Spectre is only electric,” he said. “All future Rolls-Royces, new ones, will be only electric, whilst maintaining what Rolls-Royce stands for. This should be the most dynamic RR ever in history. And it is.”
According to Müller-Ötvös, electric powertrains are well-suited to the Rolls-Royce brand because they don’t depend on the emotive appeal of combustion engines, which is the case for some other car manufacturers.
“Electric is the future. It will happen,” he said. “I also think it fits perfectly with the brand. We don’t have any problems with [the end of] roaring engines.”
Although electric powertrains perfectly complement the classic features of a Rolls-Royce, such as a smooth and quiet ride and effortless power, the Spectre’s range is not as far as that of a combustion-powered Rolls-Royce. However, Müller-Ötvös believes that this is not an issue since most of the brand’s owners reside in city centers and utilize their vehicles for short trips.
“If you’re not allowed to enter city centers in a Rolls-Royce, game over. Look around London: those Rolls-Royces are all privately owned. We need to keep building the cars these clients want,” he said.
