A report points to things that could increase the chances of customers in Canada receiving their electric trucks and SUVs from the manufacturer soon.

In its report, Drive Tesla Canada said the initial bottleneck in shipments stemmed from a failure to meet import certification standards set by Transport Canada

However, Automotive News Canada, which has contacted Rivian, said Transport Canada just needed more information and additional documentation before certification could be completed.

Sure enough, then Rivian has received their certification, and now the Transport Canada Preclearance List of Recognized Vehicle Importers includes the R1T and R1S.

Rivian previously said that their customers in Canada will receive the R1T and R1S in the second half of 2023

Earlier it was Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change who said that there was a lack of support and incentives for EV consumers, and that the country needed to adopt a “carrot and stick” approach if they were to facilitate mass EV adoption.

Given the circumstances, Rivian’s long-awaited entry into the Canadian market could further aid the effort.
