Spooky season is in full swing, and Rivian is adding a playful twist with a series of Halloween-themed software updates, including a new “Car Costumes” feature. Starting on October 18, Rivian drivers can enjoy several fun, spooky upgrades that bring their electric vehicles to life—literally, in some cases.

The highlight of the update is the “Car Costumes” feature, which, when the car is parked, uses the infotainment screen, sound system, and exterior lighting to imitate three iconic vehicles. One of the featured costumes is a nod to the Knight Rider TV series. Rivian’s Gear Guard mascot will appear dressed as Michael Knight on the app, and the infotainment screen will transform to mimic the iconic dashboard of K.I.T.T., the AI-powered car. The original show’s theme song will play, while the front light bar on 2025 Rivian models will glow red, replicating K.I.T.T.’s signature scanner light and sound effect.

For fans of Back to the Future, Rivian offers a time-traveling DeLorean-inspired experience. The Gear Guard mascot takes on the role of Doc Brown, and the infotainment screen mimics the interface of the DeLorean Time Machine, complete with a “Plutonium Chamber” gauge and time-travel date display. The front and rear lights on 2025 models will create a synchronized light show when the 88-mph button is pressed, all while iconic sound effects play.

Additionally, Rivian is rolling out a “Haunted Rivian Car Costume,” featuring a scarecrow-dressed Gear Guard, eerie sound effects, and haunting visual themes in shades of purple, yellow, red, and green. On 2025 models, the exterior light bar will project the chosen color.

In keeping with the Halloween spirit, Rivian is adding several other features. The typical lock beep will be replaced by an owl chirp, with different sound options for various model years. The digital instrument cluster will show pedestrians as zombies and cyclists as headless horsemen during drives, adding a spooky touch to everyday commutes.

Camp Mode gets a festive upgrade too, with animations of bats, pumpkins, and green flames, while eerie decorations like skulls, glowing eyes, and witches will appear across all drive modes.

These Halloween-themed features will be available until November 4, giving Rivian owners a limited-time chance to embrace the season in a fun and interactive way.
