Rivian, the electric vehicle startup, has announced a massive increase in deliveries over the coming months. After initially struggling to ramp up production due to supply chain issues, the company now anticipates building around 50,000 electric trucks in 2023.

Previously, customers were forced to wait 12-18 months for their R1T or R1S, but lead times for new orders are now projected to be 1-4 months. This is great news for EV enthusiasts who have been eagerly anticipating the release of Rivian’s electric trucks.

In Q4 2022, Rivian delivered 8,054 vehicles, with a total of 24,337 R1T and R1S EVs produced last year. All of Rivian’s vehicles are manufactured at the firm’s Normal, Illinois factory, a 2.6-million-square-foot facility that was previously used by Mitsubishi from 1988 to 2015. Rivian acquired the factory and invested $750 million to prepare it for mass EV production.

The Rivian R1T, which starts at $73,000 in dual-motor, Standard Pack guise, is available in a fully loaded Max Pack variant that can exceed $100,000. This variant has a range of over 400 miles and will be available for purchase in the next few months.

The 7-seater R1S has a base price of $78,000, with only the Standard and Large battery packs currently available. However, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe has confirmed that a Max Pack R1S with a range of 390 miles will be available for purchase in the fall.

Rivian’s commitment to producing high-quality electric trucks has garnered a lot of attention, and the company’s success is a testament to the growing demand for sustainable transportation. With their factory fully operational and plans to produce 50,000 vehicles this year, Rivian is poised to be a major player in the EV market.
