Renault has updated its battery-electric Renault 5 with efficiency and aerodynamic improvements that increase its WLTP range to up to 315 kilometres for the 40 kWh version and 430 kilometres for the 52 kWh model. The French automaker has also introduced a new entry-level version using an 80 kW motor and 36.5 kWh LFP battery, although the new configuration is not currently planned for Germany.
Renault 5 Range Increases
The updated Renault 5 Urban Range with a 40 kWh battery now offers up to 315 kilometres of WLTP range, compared with 312 kilometres previously.

The Comfort Range version with a 52 kWh battery increases its claimed range from 410 to 430 kilometres.
Renault has attributed the improvements to several technical and aerodynamic changes. A lower ride height and redesigned exterior mirrors reduce aerodynamic drag, while optimisation of the battery electronics further improves efficiency.
The existing 40 kWh and 52 kWh versions continue to use nickel-based NMC battery chemistry and motors producing 90 kW and 110 kW, respectively.
New LFP Version Adds 305-Kilometre Range
Renault is also introducing a new Five version in selected European markets that combines an 80 kW electric motor with a 36.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.
The new configuration provides a WLTP range of up to 305 kilometres. It uses the 80 kW version of the “Gen 2 Evo” motor introduced in the Twingo E-Tech Electric, where the same motor is limited to 60 kW.

The LFP battery uses a cell-to-pack architecture, removing the module level and integrating the battery as a structural element of the vehicle underbody.

The new Five supports AC charging at up to 6.6 kW and DC fast charging at up to 80 kW. The latter is an addition for the Five trim, which previously did not offer DC fast-charging capability.
In markets such as France, the new 80 kW/LFP configuration replaces the previous Five version using a 90 kW motor and 40 kWh battery.
Renault Deutschland announced the Five trim in 2024 with a starting price of €24,900, but the version has not appeared in the German configurator. The new LFP-equipped Renault 5 Five is therefore not currently expected to be offered in Germany.
Updated Equipment and Design
Renault is also expanding the Renault 5’s exterior and interior options.
New DeZir Red and Dolomite Grey colours will be added, along with new 18-inch alloy wheels with a gold finish. The Iconic trim will receive blue melange upholstery instead of the previous yellow melange finish.
Four new roof and door decal designs in the Hyper5 or Vibrant5 styles will also be available in black, red or gold.
Inside, Renault is adding a ventilated inductive smartphone charging tray from the Techno trim upward and an e-call system compatible with 4G mobile networks.

From the Techno trim upward, the vehicle can automatically switch between Eco, Comfort and Sport driving modes based on driving behaviour. Renault has removed the Multi-Sense button from the steering wheel, although drivers can still change modes through the OpenR Link screen or by voice command.
More Standard Safety Features
Renault has made several safety systems standard on the top Iconic Five and Roland Garros trims.
The additions include blind-spot warning, exit assist, cross-traffic alert and Active Driver Assist with emergency stop assist.
The company is also preparing to introduce Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence assistant through an over-the-air update, replacing Google Assistant.
“Gemini goes far beyond a conventional voice assistant, acting as a truly conversational AI companion. Rather than having to remember specific commands, users can speak naturally, engage in fluid and interactive conversations, and accomplish more sophisticated tasks,” Renault said.
Renault 5 Prices Cut in Germany
Renault has already announced German pricing for the updated model year, reducing prices across the range by €1,710.

The Renault 5 now starts at €26,290 in Germany for the Evolution 120 Urban Range. The updated German prices are:

The updated Renault 5 model year is available to order across European markets where the model is sold, although some of the newly announced equipment and software features will be introduced in the coming weeks.
Renault will showcase the updated Renault 5 range at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, scheduled for October 12 to 18.
