German mobility provider Quantron has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Norwegian company Westgass Hydrogen to supply hydrogen fuel for its fuel cell electric vehicles in the Nordic countries.
The deal will initially affect transport in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark, with Quantron planning to start its commercial rollout in Norway in 2024. Launch customers are expected to run the first ten to 20 hydrogen trucks, with Westgass joining the list of Quantron’s preferred hydrogen suppliers.
Westgass Hydrogen is currently selling hydrogen at 25 retail sites in Norway and will also partner in the supply of hydrogen for a future pan-European filling station network for Quantron.
Quantron CEO Michael Perschke describes the cooperation as offering “comprehensive solutions that include not only the vehicles themselves but also energy deliveries and the necessary infrastructure.” The company plans to deploy 500 fuel cell trucks in Norway alone by 2027.
This partnership follows Quantron’s recently announced deal with Norwegian Hydrogen as another of its preferred hydrogen suppliers in the Nordics. Quantron’s latest QHM FCEV Heavy Truck is a tractor unit with a range of up to 1,500 kilometers, powered by fuel cells from Ballard Power Systems.

Quantron sees the Nordics as an ideal testing ground for its Quantron-as-a-service business, which offers a 360-degree platform for new vehicles and conversions, after-sales solutions, and the latest ‘Quantron Energy & Power Station’ division, which is set to realize the production of green hydrogen and electricity as a platform.
As the world moves towards greener and more sustainable transportation options, partnerships like Quantron and Westgass Hydrogen’s are essential to ensure the growth and success of the hydrogen fuel industry.
