Formula E’s eighth season kicks off next week, and in a slightly different way, electric car racing will add a new safety car, the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

The car will debut double-header in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on January 28 and 29, 2022.

“With the Taycan Turbo S as the official safety car, we make an important contribution to track safety and also underscore the importance of Formula E to Porsche Motorsport,” said Thomas Laudenbach, vice president of Porsche Motorsport.

Unique coloring is also applied to this car, using a white base and several other color accents such as light blue, dark blue, black, yellow and red stripes. Do not miss the brand placement of various sponsors.

Porsche modified the electric sedan with all the necessary safety car gear such as a roll cage, extinguisher, bucket seats and six-point seat belts.

In addition, this car also gets a siren at the top. Inside, other notable changes include a row of switches on the center console and a red button that sits on the steering wheel.

The Porsche Taycan produces a maximum power of 750 hp, enabling it to reach 100 kph in 2.8 seconds with launch control. This car has a top speed of 260 kph, which means that it is only 20 kph slower than a Formula E Gen 2 race car.
