Porsche’s Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package has added another lap record to its growing list of achievements, setting the fastest time for an electric vehicle at Brazil’s Interlagos circuit.

The high-performance EV clocked 1:42.1 minutes on the 4.3-kilometre track, nearly eight seconds faster than the previous Taycan Turbo S record from 2022.

Felipe Nasr, a three-time IMSA champion and former Formula 1 driver, piloted the Taycan Turbo GT to its latest record on Feb. 5. The lap time was also nearly a second quicker than the best production-car record set by the Porsche 911 Turbo S at the circuit. “I expected the strong acceleration and torque, but the overall performance was what really impressed me,” said Nasr.

The Interlagos circuit, officially named Autodromo José Carlos Pace, is known for its mix of high-speed sections, tight corners, and elevation changes. Porsche says the latest lap record highlights the Taycan Turbo GT’s capabilities as it makes its debut in the Brazilian market.

The record follows three other lap-time achievements for the model on different continents, including Nürburgring Nordschleife, Shanghai International Circuit, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Porsche has also deployed the Taycan Turbo GT as the official safety car for the Formula E World Championship since May 2024. The high-performance EV continues to showcase its motorsport credentials, alternating between duties as the main and backup safety car in FIA-sanctioned races.
