Pony.ai has signed an agreement with JD Auto Service, the automotive maintenance business of JD.com, to establish a standardized maintenance and spare-parts network for its robotaxi fleet as the company expands autonomous mobility services across China.
Partnership to Support Fleet Operations
The collaboration will initially cover the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, where Pony.ai currently operates or is expanding its autonomous driving services.

Under the agreement, JD Auto Service will integrate its nationwide service network with Pony.ai’s fleet management platform to coordinate vehicle maintenance capacity and spare-parts supply.
The companies will also connect their operational systems to automate work-order dispatch, maintenance tracking and settlement processes, enabling a digital workflow from fault detection through vehicle servicing.
Supporting Commercial Robotaxi Expansion
Pony.ai said the partnership is intended to strengthen operational support as it works toward a global robotaxi fleet of more than 3,500 vehicles operating across more than 20 cities by the end of 2026.

According to the company, access to JD Auto Service’s existing maintenance infrastructure reduces the need to establish dedicated service facilities in each new market, helping improve deployment efficiency as the fleet grows.
Focus on Operational Efficiency
Dr. James Peng, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pony.ai, said scaling autonomous mobility depends not only on advances in self-driving technology but also on efficient fleet operations.
“Robotaxi commercialisation is as much an operational challenge as a technological one, with vehicle availability, service consistency and lifecycle costs becoming critical drivers as fleets scale.”
The company also said its seventh-generation robotaxi platform has achieved unit economics breakeven in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Building a Broader Autonomous Mobility Ecosystem
The agreement expands Pony.ai’s commercial ecosystem beyond autonomous driving software and vehicle development by incorporating large-scale maintenance support for Level 4 autonomous vehicles.
