Polestar, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, proudly announced its exceptional performance in global electric car deliveries during the second quarter of 2023. The company reported an impressive figure of approximately 15,800 units, marking a remarkable 36 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This outstanding achievement secures the second-best quarter ever recorded by Polestar.

The driving force behind this success can be attributed to the robust sales witnessed in the month of June, which experienced a remarkable year-over-year growth of 73 percent. Although an exact number was not provided, Polestar acknowledged that the substantial surge in deliveries during June significantly contributed to the overall positive result for the quarter.

The cumulative sales of Polestar battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for the last quarter reached approximately 15,800 units, indicating a substantial 36 percent year-over-year growth. Impressively, Polestar has already delivered nearly 28,000 electric cars to its esteemed customers this year, reflecting a significant increase of almost one-third compared to the previous year.

Moreover, Polestar recently reaffirmed its commitment to excellence by asserting that it remains on track to deliver a total of 60,000 to 70,000 vehicles in 2023. However, this revised projection appears to be a slight adjustment from the initial target of approximately 80,000 units, representing a decrease of 12.5 to 25 percent. Achieving this updated goal necessitates the company to achieve over 40,000 sales in the second half of the year.

Thomas Ingenlath, the Chief Executive Officer of Polestar, expressed his satisfaction with the impressive performance achieved in the second quarter. He emphasized that the company’s deliveries have steadily gained momentum month after month, resulting in a record-breaking quarter. Ingenlath conveyed his confidence that this positive trend will continue throughout the seasonally stronger second half of the year. Furthermore, he announced the upcoming release of an upgraded version of the popular Polestar 2 model, boasting an extended driving range of up to 22 percent. In addition, the company plans to open more than 20 new permanent Polestar Spaces in the near future, transitioning from temporary locations to larger facilities capable of accommodating the expanding vehicle lineup. Ingenlath also mentioned that the first Polestar 3 display cars are set to arrive in the company’s Spaces in the coming weeks, generating further excitement among enthusiasts and customers.

Looking ahead, Polestar anticipates a significant boost later this year or in early 2024 with the launch of its highly anticipated all-new model, the Polestar 3. The vehicle will be produced locally in the United States, a move that is expected to elevate Polestar’s market presence and sales figures.

Polestar’s future lineup is poised to include an array of electrifying BEV models. These will include the initial low-volume flagship PHEV, the Polestar 1, followed by the current BEV, the Polestar 2, which is based on Volvo’s CMA platform. The performance SUV, Polestar 3, is slated for production commencement in 2023, while the performance SUV coupe, the Polestar 4, is expected to make its debut in late 2023 or early 2024. Furthermore, the performance 4-door GT, known as the Polestar 5, based on the Precept concept car, is anticipated to be released in 2024. Lastly, the Polestar 6, a captivating 2+2 hard-top convertible, inspired by the Polestar O2 concept car, is projected to grace the market in 2026.

Polestar continues to captivate the electric vehicle industry with its remarkable sales growth and ambitious plans for the future. With its expanding lineup and dedication to innovation, the company is poised to cement its position as a leading player in the electric vehicle market.
