The increase in raw material prices forced Polestar to increase Polestar 2 prices in China. The company said the price hike was not permanent and would review it before the end of this year.
The price of the Polestar 2 in China with the two cheapest versions up by more than $4,300. Meanwhile the most expensive version of the Polestar 2 is up over $2,900.
For customers in China this increase has a two-fold impact. The first is the price increase itself and the second is the loss of potential incentives. The single-motor entry model is priced at RMB 299,000 and is eligible for the EV subsidy, with this increase in price to RMB 329,800 which leaves customers with no potential incentives as the price threshold in China reaches RMB 300,000.
The Polestar 2 dual-motor long range version will retail for RMB 358,800 or about $50,420. The model has 300 kW of power and 660 Nm of torque. The model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. This car has a NEDC range of 565 km. The WLTP range is slightly lower at 480 km.
Polestar itself will premiere the Polestar 3 electric SUV on October 12. Production of the electric SUV will begin in China and the US next year.
Polestar itself is on the right track in the competition in the electric vehicle market. The O2 concept vehicle received a positive response from the public and the company will present it in a production version.
Polestar 3 will be equipped with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) autonomous driving feature
