Polestar has made a significant leadership change by naming Lutz Stiegler as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the Management Team. Stiegler’s appointment is scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years in technology development within the automotive sector.

Lutz Stiegler comes to Polestar from Volvo Cars, where he has held various key roles, including responsibilities for overseeing Volvo’s electric propulsion systems. Prior to his tenure at Volvo Cars, he served as the Vice President of Powertrain Development at IAV GmbH, further solidifying his expertise in the automotive field.

Stiegler’s appointment as CTO marks an important transition at Polestar, as he steps into the role previously held by Jörg Brandscheid. Brandscheid, who has played a significant role in the company’s technology development, will be departing Polestar during the fourth quarter to pursue new opportunities beyond the automotive industry.

Thomas Ingenlath, the CEO of Polestar, emphasized the importance of performance and innovation in the company’s electric vehicles. He expressed confidence in Stiegler’s ability to lead the development of these crucial characteristics, citing his exceptional expertise in Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) technology and deep knowledge of e-powertrains. Ingenlath also extended his gratitude to Jörg Brandscheid for his support and contributions to Polestar’s technology advancements in recent years.
