Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar has said it will unveil its Polestar 3 electric SUV on October 12. The company just released a new teaser image to further drive interest ahead of the launch.
The Polestar 3 will be launched only in a dual motor format. Polestar has not revealed more details about the specifications and details. One thing is for sure, the manufacturer promises a host of high-performance technologies and a complete rethink of what an electric SUV should look like.
The electric SUV is expected to compete with other electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS, Rivian R1S and Tesla Model X. Like these models, the Polestar 3 will be produced in the US at Volvo’s plant in Charleston, South Carolina.
The previously revealed image shows taillights that are similar (but reversed) to the Polestar 2. The Polestar previously showed off the design from the side in June (below).
Previous images reveal a slim profile for an SUV. With some spectators to the Porsche Macan in sight, the Polestar 3 offers a panoramic sunroof, wide hamstrings for sturdy stances and flat door handles.
The Polestar 3 will come with a rear-biased dual-motor powertrain similar to that of the Polestar 2, with electric torque vectoring via a dual-clutch system on the rear motor. Travel will be controlled by an adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and active dampers as standard, allowing the driver to switch between comfort and solid suspension dynamics. The silencer will adjust to suit road conditions “once every two milliseconds,” Polestar said.
Polestar 3 will be equipped with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) autonomous driving feature
