Pininfarina, the renowned design house, unveiled its latest creation, the Enigma GT, at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show. This virtual concept car is a design study that explores the future of “everyday driving pleasure,” combining advanced technology with innovative design.
Felix Kilbertus, Chief Creative Officer of Pininfarina, described the Enigma GT as a “contemporary GT, a 2+2 with desirable, exotic looks, exuding purity of design, elegance, and Italian flair.” The concept is still a work in progress but is expected to be further evolved for Pininfarina’s 95th anniversary in 2025, potentially leading to a real-life prototype.

The Enigma GT features a low-slung silhouette, a single-piece wraparound greenhouse, slim LED bars on both ends, large-diameter wheels, and sculpted bodywork reminiscent of earlier Pininfarina concepts. It measures 4,580 mm (180.3 inches) in length, making it slightly shorter than a Tesla Model 3 but with a longer wheelbase of 2,880 mm (113.4 inches), thanks to its mid-rear engine layout.
The concept is powered by a unique hybrid powertrain that combines a hydrogen-burning V6 engine with an electric motor, offering all-wheel-drive capabilities. The V6 engine produces 436 hp (325 kW / 442 PS) and drives the rear axle, while the electric motor provides up to 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) to the front wheels. This setup, combined with a small battery pack, enables the Enigma GT to achieve a driving range of 550 km (342 miles) in the combined cycle and accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The Enigma GT’s interior is equally futuristic, featuring a transparent OLED screen on the dashboard, augmented reality windshield, and a multi-functional steering wheel designed to mimic the handshake of an “intelligent and friendly machine.” Sustainable materials are used for the upholstery, and elements of the hydrogen powertrain are visible to the occupants. The concept also includes an autonomous driving mode for enhanced comfort and safety on longer journeys.
Pininfarina has deliberately withheld the complete revelation of the concept’s styling, saving it for future unveilings. Alongside the virtual Enigma GT, visitors to the Geneva Motor Show can experience “state-of-the-art design tools” from the Pininfarina Design Center, offering insights into vehicle development.
