Phoenix Motor Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses and electrification solutions, has named John Walsh as President of Phoenix Motor and Chief Executive Officer of its commercial electric vehicle (EV) brand, PhoenixEV. The appointment is intended to accelerate the company’s growth in the zero-emission mobility sector and expand production and market share in the United States.

Walsh brings over 35 years of experience in transit and electric mobility. He previously served as President of EO Charging Americas, overseeing commercial fleet electrification in North America, and held senior roles at Proterra, where he contributed to record sales of electric transit buses. His prior positions include leadership roles at Davey Coach, REV Bus Group, and MV-1/VPG, focusing on operations in the paratransit and school bus sectors.

Denton Peng, CEO of Phoenix Motor, described Walsh’s appointment as a key step in strengthening the company’s U.S. presence. Peng said Walsh’s experience “will help expand PhoenixEV’s market share in zero-emission transit and commercial fleets, while enhancing production capabilities to meet rising demand for electric mobility solutions.”

Walsh highlighted PhoenixEV’s existing infrastructure and technological assets, noting the company’s “coast-to-coast operations and industry-leading EV platforms” as a foundation for accelerating customer adoption and delivering high-quality vehicles. PhoenixEV develops light, medium, and heavy-duty EVs for the U.S. market, while Phoenix Motor’s EdisonFuture brand focuses on international markets.

Phoenix Motor aims to advance sustainable transportation with integrated electric drive systems and autonomous driving technologies designed for transit, logistics, and community mobility. Walsh’s leadership is expected to bolster the company’s position in the growing market for eco-friendly commercial vehicles across the United States.
