Peugeot has officially unveiled the production version of the E-208 GTi and opened order books across key European markets, bringing the iconic GTi badge into the electric era.

The high-performance electric hatchback arrives one year after Peugeot first revealed the concept model and is designed to combine the practicality of a compact car with the performance expected from a modern hot hatch.

Electric GTi Delivers 207 kW of Power

At the heart of the E-208 GTi is Stellantis’ M4+ electric motor, producing 207 kW of power and 345 Nm of torque.

The front-wheel-drive hatchback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest vehicles in Peugeot’s current lineup.

According to the company, the model completes the 0–1,000 metre sprint in 25.8 seconds and can accelerate from 80 km/h to 120 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.

Motorsport Expertise Shapes Development

Peugeot Sport played a central role in the development of the E-208 GTi, applying knowledge gained from the brand’s motorsport programmes.

Christophe Auriault, Project Leader for the Peugeot E-208 GTi at Peugeot Sport, said the vehicle’s electronic motor management system was developed using expertise directly transferred from racing.

“This work on electronic motor control is at the very heart of our expertise.”

“It draws directly on the know-how gained in motorsport and transfers it from the circuit to the road.”

“The skills used for the development of E-208 GTi are the same ones that can be found when working on the 9X8.”

Battery Optimised for Performance

The E-208 GTi uses the same battery pack found in the standard E-208.

The lithium-ion battery provides a gross capacity of 54 kWh and 51 kWh of usable energy.

However, Peugeot has modified the battery management system to support the increased performance requirements of the M4+ motor.

Particular attention was given to cooling performance and thermal management to ensure the battery can consistently deliver maximum power during demanding driving conditions.

The automaker estimates a driving range of up to 374 kilometres on a full charge.

Shared Technology with Opel Corsa GSE

The E-208 GTi shares its technical architecture with the recently introduced Opel Corsa GSE.

Both vehicles are built on Stellantis’ e-CMP platform and feature identical battery specifications and motor output.

The strategy allows Stellantis to leverage common electric vehicle technology across multiple brands while maintaining distinct driving characteristics and brand identities.

Pricing and Availability

Peugeot has announced pricing starting at €42,900 in France and £34,995 in the United Kingdom.

The launch places the E-208 GTi among a growing number of high-performance electric compact cars entering the European market as manufacturers seek to recreate the appeal of traditional hot hatches using battery-electric powertrains.

With its combination of strong performance, everyday usability and zero-emission driving, the E-208 GTi represents Peugeot’s latest effort to modernise one of its most iconic performance nameplates for the electric age.
