In an unexpected turn of events, Polestar 3 has encountered a delivery setback, pushing the anticipated arrival to the second quarter of 2024. However, this delay has not diminished the company’s excitement for their upcoming crossover.
In fact, according to a report by Car Magazine, Polestar is considering an extraordinary venture for the model—the BST treatment. While details are scarce at the moment, insiders claim that executives in Gothenburg are contemplating the creation of a truly sensational version of the crossover.
Although the available information is limited, the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor boasts an impressive combined output of 483 horsepower (360 kW / 489 PS) and 619 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque. With such power at its disposal, the model is expected to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in a remarkable five seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
For those seeking even more exhilaration, the Performance Pack offers an enhanced output of 510 horsepower (380 kW / 517 PS) and 671 lb-ft (910 Nm) of torque. This upgrade shaves the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time down to an impressive 4.7 seconds, while the top speed remains unchanged.
If the rumors of a Polestar 3 BST are true, we can anticipate an even more extreme variant that draws inspiration from the two previous BST models. The high-performance crossover might feature a sport-tuned suspension with a lowered ride height, distinctive wheels equipped with specially-developed tires, and potentially even Brembo brakes. Additionally, both interior and exterior styling modifications could be part of the package.
Furthermore, there is a possibility of powertrain enhancements similar to the Polestar 2 BSTs, which are equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system generating 469 horsepower (350 kW / 475 PS) and 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque. However, it should be noted that the green light for the Polestar 3 BST has not been given yet, leaving these potential upgrades uncertain for now.
