PepsiCo has deployed eight retrofitted electric trucks for its logistics operations in India, in partnership with Vayudoot Road Carriers, as part of efforts to reduce emissions across its supply chain.

The company said the 32-foot single-axle electric container trucks will operate along a 115-kilometre route between Kosi in Uttar Pradesh and Pataudi in Haryana, with additional deployment planned on a longer 126-kilometre route to Delhi.

The trucks are retrofitted versions of vehicles originally manufactured by Tata Motors and Eicher Motors. The conversion work was carried out by Kalyani Powertrain, a unit of Bharat Forge specializing in electrifying internal combustion engine commercial vehicles.

PepsiCo said the electric fleet is expected to cover around 480,000 kilometres annually, with further increases anticipated as operations scale.

“The launch of the EV Green Corridor on the Kosi-Pataudi route, together with the electrification of our distributor fleet and CNG deployment in NCR, reflects our commitment to building a supply chain that is cleaner, more efficient, and future-ready,” said Jagrut Kotecha, CEO of PepsiCo India & South Asia.

The initiative builds on PepsiCo’s broader electrification efforts in India, where it already operates more than 400 distributor-linked retrofitted electric three- and four-wheelers.

Ashwani Singhal, Managing Director of Vayudoot Road Carriers, said the company plans to expand its electric truck fleet to 50 units by the end of the year. He added that its new venture, Vayugreen Transchargers, will provide supporting charging infrastructure for the fleet.

“Our 25+ year partnership with PepsiCo India has helped us steadily build stronger capabilities and higher operating standards across our network. Anchoring on this trust, we are proud to deploy electric container trucks on the Kosi–Pataudi Green Corridor, reaffirming our commitment to sustainable and future-ready logistics,” Singhal said.
