Outrider, a Colorado-based developer of autonomous yard operations, said it has secured SOC 2 Type 2 certification, becoming the first company in the logistics automation sector to reach the compliance milestone.

The certification, verified by Prescient Security under AICPA standards, evaluated Outrider’s cloud infrastructure, APIs and data governance. The company said it has implemented safeguards including threat detection, multi-region failover and secure software development practices to protect safety-critical functions such as obstacle detection and braking.

“As cyber threats grow, enterprises need assurance that AI logistics systems are secure,” said Bob Hall, Outrider’s chief operating officer. “Secure systems ensure safe autonomous vehicles, building trust for enterprise deployment,” added John Stein, head of IT operations.

Prescient Security described the achievement as a key step for emerging industries. “SOC 2 Type 2 is critical for emerging industries like autonomous vehicle operations,” said chief compliance officer Sammy Chowdhury.

The certification complements Outrider’s TÜV SÜD safety review, making it one of few industrial autonomy firms with both credentials. The company said the dual standards position it to advance adoption of autonomous freight technology at large distribution hubs.

Outrider, which raised $62 million earlier this year, works with Fortune 500 companies across e-commerce, retail and manufacturing. It estimates its systems support operations for more than one-fifth of yard trucks in North America.
