Ourense Goes Green: First City in Galicia to Introduce Fully Electric City Buses

Ourense, a city in Galicia, Spain, is set to make history as the first in the region to introduce fully electric city buses. This has been made possible through a partnership with local manufacturer Unvi.

Over the coming months, 25 new buses will be introduced on Ourense’s streets, with 10 of them being fully electric and the remaining 15 being diesel-powered.

The electric buses, known as Unvi eC22, will be equipped with the latest technology, including driver assistance systems, pedestrian detection, and maximum accessibility for passengers.

The buses feature state-of-the-art battery technology and efficient engines that minimize the carbon footprint and guarantee zero emissions during operation, bringing comfort to passengers and a reduction in noise and environmental pollution for all citizens.

The electric buses have been subsidized by the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda through the NextGenerationEU program of the European Union, which has been translated into the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan in Spain.
