Opel’s Mokka Electric Transforms into Service Vehicle with Innovative Drawer and Shelf System

Opel is expanding the use of their Mokka Electric model by offering it as a workshop and service vehicle with an innovative drawer and shelf system in the rear. This new in-vehicle equipment is a result of a collaboration with conversion specialist Bott, who integrated their Vario3 system into a safety frame that is firmly attached to the body of the car. The system is designed to store tools and smaller spare parts safely and comfortably, while also allowing for easy removal in just a few steps when more space is needed in the rear compartment.

Opel highlights the exceptional spaciousness of the Mokka Electric, despite its compact dimensions, and notes that the addition of the drawer system does not detract from this. However, it is important to note that the installation of the system does turn the Mokka Electric into a two-seater. One significant advantage of the drawer system is the ability to evenly distribute the weight of any stored equipment, ensuring a safe and stable driving experience.

Opel emphasizes the safety of the Bott configurations, which have undergone crash tests with loaded vehicles in accordance with UN ECE Regulation R44. Opel states that “nothing falls out of the modules and the drawers remain closed,” demonstrating the efficacy of the system in maintaining the safety of the vehicle’s occupants and any stored equipment.

Interestingly, Opel notes that the Mokka Electric is equipped with a 50 kWh battery and 100 kW electric motor, allowing it to travel up to 338 kilometers according to the WLTP test. This is somewhat surprising, as the company had previously announced the introduction of a new drive generation into the Mokka Electric model, with an output of 115 kW and a battery capacity of 54 kWh. This discrepancy suggests that Opel may be holding back on the release of this updated model for the time being.

In any case, the integration of the Vario3 system from Bott into the Mokka Electric model is an exciting development for those in the service and maintenance industries, offering a versatile and practical option for transporting equipment safely and efficiently. As electric vehicles become increasingly prevalent, it is encouraging to see innovative solutions like this emerging to meet the needs of a growing market.
