Omoda and Jaecoo have introduced their Super Hybrid System (SHS) in the UK, debuting with the Jaecoo 7 model. The Jaecoo 7 offers a driving range of 745 miles and a WLTP fuel efficiency of 403 mpg. The vehicle will be available starting at £35,065, with customer deliveries scheduled for January 31, 2025.

The SHS, developed using Chery Group’s third-generation hybrid platform, is designed to provide high efficiency, extended mileage, and reduced emissions. The powertrain includes a fifth-generation 1.5-liter TDGI engine, hybrid transmission, and an 18.3 kW high-density lithium iron phosphate battery. The total power output of the Jaecoo 7 is 255 kW (347 bhp), with a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 8.5 seconds. The system ensures consistent performance by preventing the battery from fully depleting.

The vehicle also features a 56-mile electric-only range and low carbon emissions of 23 g/km, making it a potentially appealing option for consumers seeking a hybrid alternative to fully electric vehicles. The Jaecoo 7 is available in both front- and four-wheel-drive configurations, offering a combination of comfort and practicality.

Peter Matkin, Chief Engineer at Jaecoo, noted that the SHS improves both driving performance and fuel economy. With its competitive pricing and advanced technology, the Jaecoo 7 SHS presents a new option in the hybrid SUV market.
