Indian electric bus manufacturer Olectra Greentech has placed an order for 2,325 electric bus chassis from BYD, encompassing models K9, C9, and K7.This order supplements a previous request of 750 units made in August 2024, adding 50 units of the K7 chassis and 275 units of the K9 chassis.
BYD’s collaboration with Olectra Greentech underscores its position in public transportation. As of January 31, 2025, 2,330 buses equipped with BYD chassis were operating in 35 Indian cities, capturing a 24% market share.

Since entering the Indian market in November 2017, BYD’s electric buses have collectively covered approximately 335 million kilometers, with one bus recording 678,109 kilometers—the highest for a single vehicle in India.
Zhang Jie, Deputy General Manager of BYD’s Asia-Pacific Automotive Sales Division, commented, “Over the past 10 years, BYD India’s commercial vehicle business has continued to grow and develop, which is a high degree of trust from the market and customers in BYD’s product quality, technological innovation, and service capabilities.”

Olectra Greentech has highlighted the advantages of BYD’s Blade battery technology, noting its 30% increase in energy storage and a range of up to 500 kilometers. The company praised its space efficiency and safety features. B. Sharat Chandra, Olectra’s CFO, stated, “With its cutting-edge design and exceptional energy density, the Blade Battery promises not only longer ranges, but also the faster charging time, ultimately, enhancing the performance, safety, and reliability.”
