Dodge has upped the ante in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the grand debut of its 2024 Charger Daytona EV, boldly claiming it to be the “world’s quickest and most powerful” muscle car. This groundbreaking announcement marks a pivotal moment for Dodge, renowned for its high-performance gasoline-powered vehicles, as it takes a decisive step into the realm of electrification.
Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Dodge, expressed enthusiasm about the new electric Charger, stating, “The electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack delivers Charger Hellcat Redeye levels of performance.” This move underscores Dodge’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance and innovation in the EV landscape.
The Charger Daytona EV is built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, also utilized in the first Jeep EVs in the US, ensuring a solid foundation for exceptional performance. It features all-wheel drive and is powered by a 400V propulsion system, delivering “supercharged V-8 performance” with instant torque and zero tailpipe emissions, a revolutionary leap for muscle cars.
Dodge has meticulously engineered the Charger Daytona EV’s battery pack, boasting up to 100.5 kW installed capacity and 550 kW peak discharge rate. This design allows the vehicle’s motor to harness maximum battery power, ensuring thrilling acceleration and performance. With six different performance levels available, the Daytona Scat Pack variant offers an impressive 670 hp, propelling the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and covering a quarter-mile in an estimated 11.5 seconds.
Beyond its impressive performance, the Charger Daytona EV boasts a design that pays homage to its iconic muscle car heritage. It features a patent-pending front R-Wing, enhancing downforce and aerodynamics, and a Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system that delivers a signature Hellcat roar, all while maintaining a zero-emission profile.
Inside, the Charger Daytona EV offers a futuristic cockpit, featuring a 10.25″ (or available 16″) driver display and a 12.3″ center infotainment screen. The interior design draws inspiration from the iconic 1968 Dodge Charger instrument panel, blending classic elements with modern technology seamlessly.
Production of the two-door coupe 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV Scat Pack and R/T models is slated to commence in mid-2024, with the four-door models following suit in the first quarter of 2025.
