U.S. chipmaker Nvidia Corp said it had received deals from a number of Chinese electric car (EV) makers to supply technology features and autonomous vehicle features to compete with Tesla Inc.

Nvidia’s vice president, Ali Kani, at the CES 2022 technology conference said there are several Chinese electric vehicle companies interested in Nvidia technology, including Xpeng, NIO, IM Motors, Li Auto and R Auto.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, Nvidia also stated that it has entered into contracts with several other companies such as Desay, Flex, Quanta, Valeo and ZF related to autonomous vehicle technology.

Nvidia is also targeting another segment, namely self-driving trucks which are considered to be developing in the future.

however, Nvidia has to think about the political situation between the US and China. Moreover, Nvidia’s technology allows for the exchange of automotive user data in China, for example on autonomous driving systems.

Danny Shapiro, Nvidia’s vice president of automotive, said the company uses Chinese partners and data centers in China to ensure the data it uses stays in China.
