Nio’s budget sub-brand Firefly on Friday introduced a limited-edition version of its first model, the Firefly EV, as the company seeks to expand its offerings in the compact electric vehicle market.

The special edition, called the “Nomadic Melade,” is priced from 133,800 yuan ($18,710) including the battery pack, about 11.7% higher than the base model. Only 333 units will be produced, with deliveries beginning immediately, according to Firefly. “Orders placed today will be delivered immediately,” the company said.

Under Nio’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) rental program, the starting price for the variant is 93,800 yuan, with a monthly battery fee of 399 yuan. The model comes with a low-saturation color scheme, exclusive decals, and unique wheel designs, distinguishing it from the standard editions.

Firefly launched the Firefly EV in April as its sole model and began deliveries in China later that month. The sub-brand has since entered Europe, delivering vehicles in Norway and the Netherlands from mid-August.

Local media reports suggest Firefly may align the new edition’s broader rollout with Nio Day 2025 in September, coinciding with the planned launch of Nio’s third-generation ES8 SUV.
